When Life Throws You Lemons Make Lemonade

Last Saturday my Mom, Joy, and I attended a Mother Daughter Tea with some friends. The tea was in an old-fashioned ballroom! It looked a little small to hold a ball in but maybe we have dramatized how it used to be. None-the less it was beautiful.
There was a speaker there, a missionary from Mexico. Her topic was, When Life Throws You Lemons Make Lemonade! It was really good. (The message was good, not the lemonade. They didn't even serve lemonade.)

Her theme verse was Romans 8:28, "And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
Lately, it seems, that I have heard this same message over and over just represented in different ways. It is such an important lesson to learn.
When life throws you one of those unexpected curve balls we need to have faith that everything will work out. The first thing you need to realize is that God didn't send it to you. God allowed it to happen for your good. "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." (James 1:13-14) "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." (James 1:17) These are two wonderful truths. #1 God cannot tempt you to sin. #2 All good things come from God.Also when one of these life-changing things come our way we will never be able understand it but we need to be able to accept it. "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past finding out!"(Romans 11:33) We will never know why it happened to us and we will never understand but it is in God's plan for us. We won't be able to change or stop what happened but we can control our attitude. I heard it said once that life is 10% circumstances and 90% how we respond to them and I completely agree. One of the people who first come to mind when I think about this is Mary, the mother of Jesus. When Gabriel came to her and told her that she was going to be Jesus' mother she was left with a choice. The choice wasn't if she was going to be His mother or not the choice was her attitude. She was going to be His mother no option about it, but she had to decide what her attitude would be. I pray our response would be as hers, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word."
