For my mother

Mother's Day was yesterday. It was such a beautiful day. I am so delighted that there is a day set aside for my mother. A day to honor her. I think though that it shouldn't be just one day but everyday.
Mom had a special package to open. It was given to her on Friday with special instructions. 1) Open after lunch on Sunday. 2) Open the package and then the card. Such detail only raises ones curiosity. My family is no exception. We all made our secret guesses on what was inside. None of us sharing with the other. The day and time finally arrived... Suspense!

With great joy and delight mom reached in and pulled out this sweet little shoe.
Just what we all hoped!
Caleb and Rose are expecting!
Due date: 1/5/13

Once the gifts were all opened and set aside Hannah and I pulled out the dessert! Raspberry Lemon Chessecake! My mom's favorite dessert if cheesecake and this recipe's only sweetner was honey so she could have it! It took a little research to find a recipe that was gluten free, sugar free, and dairy free. It was delicious.
But dear ones that is not the only bit of news I have for you this evening. This morning my dear brother Jacob announced the news of his engagement! We look forward to having Rachel join our family. Our family is growing! Such fun! Now we will have two Rachels in the family. I look forward to having another sister-in-law.
Behind is the only good word for this poor blog. It seems that it is left in the dust as our lives speed forward. My senior year has swept me off my feet. My grauation is just around the corner! Yeah! But with all the time that goes into preparation, other things go neglected. (like this blog) I am hoping that in the beginning of June I will be able to pick it up again and post about all the visitors we have had over the last few months and other updates.
I would, however, like to share a little bit about Ben and his happenings. He was on his sixth day into the Trail of Hope journey when Cash, the lead horse, injured his leg. It was a fairly severe injury and required stitches and staples. Ben returned home with his horses to allow Cash to recover. It took about three weeks and during that time was kept in a stall. By the time the leg was healed Cash had lost a lot of muscle mass. Ben had lost three weeks worth of time and needed to be back at the Ranch in Missouri. There wasn't the time needed to get Cash back into shape.
We don't completely understand why this happened but trust God's perfect timing in everything. Ben is currently up at His Ranch. He hasn't lost hope and would like to make the trip next year but for now he feels the Lord is leading him to "cast his net on the otherside of the boat".
(this is Cash in his stall)

And so ends our wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
We have so much to look forward to.
I love you Mom!
Lydia

Congratulations on the engagement and new baby in the family! You do have an AWESOME mom! She is such an example of the Proverbs 31/Titus 2 lady to me!
