Summer remiscence...

Aahhh... it is about time I posted again. :-) Wouldn't you agree? (don't answer that) ;)
--------------

A few weeks ago my wonderful dad had to make a work trip to Corinth Mississippi for a week. We took the opportunity to tag a long with him and get away from the mundane life we occasionally find ourselves in. It definitely was an adventure living in one hotel room with six people for seven days. I suppose most people would cringe while reading that last sentence but I would not change that week with my family for anything in the world.
Please bear with me as this post is a little long, I was not sure which photos to omit. But if you are like me long post with lots of pictures are the best.
---------

The view outside our hotel window. It was the best part of the hotel room. It is not to often you can look out a window in town and have a country view. *Sigh*
My Handsome Daddy with his messed up hair.

A long with living in a hotel room comes crock pot meals and such.
While there we visited two Civil War museums. The Corinth and Shiloh battlefields.
Fun School Credit!
Gotta love that belt buckle! :-)

Old, Big trees are the best. This one was from Corinth. I wonder how many soldiers died under him...

Here we are back at the hotel preparing dinner.

Joy!

Our soldier boy (& girl)
The rest of these pictures are from Shiloh.

The gun was his favorite part about the costume. (pure boy)

We took this picture just for fun but realistically this happened a lot during the Civil War. Families around the Nation split because of difference of opinions... and probably even killed each other without knowing it. Oh the horrors of war!

This fence was so neat! I would love one in my own yard.

The simplicity of a flower.

War is a horrendous thing. I can't understand how anyone could want something so badly that they are willing to kill for it. Esepcially in cold blood.

The weather that day was absolutely heavenly. We could not have asked for better.

Right down there where we are standing an important General died. He was for the Confederate side though I can't recall his name. Johnson? Maybe. (Don't worry I did learn something)

This little pond is remember as Bloody Pond.
It amazed me the respect the opposite sides had for one another despite their differing preferences. At least between the Generals. For Example, Gen. Beauregard, after the battle of Shiloh, asked Gen. Grant permission through a letter if he would be aloud to come carry their dead into their own lines. Gen. Grant was very gracious and would have been happy to ablige if he had not already buried them himself. His reason for this was because of the heat. They would have rotted. It doesn't make sense.

Graves... I can't help but wonder about those poor men who died at that terrible, horrendous battle. Who were their loved ones? Did they die knowing Jesus? Did they die knowing someone loved and cared about them? What Legacy did they leave behind?

Two days while we were there the kidz went swimming. Just before we headed there the temps. took a dip and the highs were in the 60 or 70 so you can imagine the water was freezing!

In Corinth they had a old-fashioned drug store so on our last day we stopped by for a fountain drink. We decided they needed an interior decorator and an organizer. With the help of those two things their business could fly.

We also spent a little time walking/driving around town looking at all the beautiful old-fashionedish houses.

On our way homeward we stopped at a friend of ours house and spent the weekend. It was so nice to be able to spend time with them.

They raised fish and we had the privilege of watching them feed them.
Thomas had a blast driving the golf cart.

Well, there you have it, a little taste of a blessed week.
Kay
