More Van Troubles! :-)

As we were soon to learn we hadn't seen the end of our van troubles.

Saturday morning on the way to the Auction my dad noticed that the brakes were locking up. Our plan was to head for Anthony and Jean's house shortly following the sale. But once again God had different plans. The brakes are a little more serious than the air conditioning and we had to fix it. After the sale we headed back to our Uncle's house to pack up and try and repair the brakes. Dad said that it could be one of two things and he was hoping that it was the cheaper of the two.
So of he went to the parts store to buy the needed part.
As soon as dad returned the men walked out to help fix the problem (or so we hoped).
Once the van was put back together and Dad had taken it for a test drive we thought the problem was officially repaired.

Here the men are all pitching in a helping hand.

Shortly down the road we realized that the brake problem was not fixed! They began locking again! Dad, thinking the brakes were only catching in stead of locking up (because we were able to drive without much restriction) kept driving. When you start smelling something hot and see smoke you can't keep going! We pulled to the side, Dad stepped out and was checking it out when he ran up to the door grabbed a water bottle and shouted, "It's on Fire!" You can probably imagine the excitement and commotion those words stirred! We were trying to get out of the van as quickly as possible! I never in my life expected to be in a vehicle that was on fire! Thankfully it wasn't big and he was able to put it out.

Here we are outside of the vehicle watching Dad and Anthony surveying the situation.

After parking the van to the side Anthony, Dad, and Thomas drove to a parts store in Anthony's car. (They followed us just in case.) The rest of us sat around outside waiting for there return. It was such a blessing that is was a beautiful evening! God provided!

I was also thankful I had my camera along! :-)

Z-girl was so good through the whole thing.

Here we are sitting/laying around.

They were gone for quite awhile so we enjoyed a lot of talking time.

Our poor, old van.

Once they came back from the parts store they went straight to work. The gentleman at the parts store said it sounded a lot like we had a bad vacuum pump but unfortunately they didn't have one at the store. Willing to try it Dad returned and unplugged the vacuum pump. Thankfully it was the problem! The only thing was that when he unplugged it, we had to drive without power brakes! We now had "Daddy Brakes"! :-)

Here the men are again helping fix the problem.

We prayed a hedge of protection around us and we safely traveled through Chicago traffic to Anthony's without further delay.
Praise the Lord!

There is more!
